Baseball continues to climb national rankings; Cavs now #21 in the NAIA

The Cavalier baseball team continues to draw national attention to Montreat, NC. Just last week, the Cavaliers broke into the top 25 national poll, the first time since 2004. This week, Montreat climbed up to the 21st spot. The Cavaliers currently rank 13th in the nation in slugging percentage (.532) and 19th in batting average (.350).

Montreat is led by centerfielder Chad Dawkins (Jr., Rockingham, NC) who leads the Cavalier sluggers with a .464 batting average, five homeruns, 12 doubles, and 36 RBI's.  Senior Dane Phillips (Charlotte, NC) has hammered eight homers and 30 RBI's.  Steven Hoyle (So., Cherryville, NC) and Jesse Wise (Sr., Benson, NC) have also brought in 30-plus RBI's this season.

Montreat currently sits two games out of first place in the AAC Polls.  They recently split a conference doubleheader with King College to take them to 26-9 overall and 7-3 in conference play.  The Cavs take on UVA-Wise this weekend on the road in another AAC doubleheader.
