He only allowed two hits over the next two innings and recorded 3 strikeouts. Both pitchers would benefit from plenty of run support as the Cavaliers would not struggle to bring guys to the plate. Montreat would send close to fifty batters to the plate in the seven inning contest pounding out sixteen hits and 11 walks and hit by pitch. Leading the way at the plate was Chad Dawkins with four hits, two of them being doubles and 4 RBI. Tristan Hollar and Adam Speas would both have homeruns and multiple RBI days, they went a combined 3-5 with 6 RBI. Red-shirt Freshmen Chris Allen continued his hot hitting with a perfect first game with two hits, a hit by pitch and a sacrifice fly for an RBI.
Montreat 12 Bluefield State 1
In the second game Patrick Ballew got the start and pitched outstanding as he would go four complete, recording 7 strikeouts and no runs. Montreat would benefit from a lot of Bluefield State pitching miscues as they would surrender 10 walks and hit by pitches in this game. Chad Dawkins would take full advantage of all the Cavaliers on base as he blasted two more doubles and 3 RBI. Junior Justin Cockrell and Senior Dane Phillips had good games as well combining for four more hits and 3 walks. Cameron Duckworth added another double to on a great day as he had four combined hits in game one and two. Montreat College is now 22-7 on the season and 5-1 in conference.
