Volleyball drops another tight match to Mars Hill
The Lady Cavs put together a solid effort against NCAA D-II Mars Hill but fell short in 3 straight games, 24-30, 28-30, and 20-30. “Overall, we gave a much better effort in playing a good D-II team,” said Head Coach Leslie Gehris. “I hope we can carry this effort into our Region XII tournament that begins next week. I hope we can play as well during the tournament, or better.” Individual leaders for Montreat were Danny Bowers with 7 kills, Allison Baumgartner with 5 kills of her own. Delivering those assists was Lyndsey Wall, earning 13 assists for the match. Defensively, Jessica Hartley once again had a great match as she added 17 more digs to her season's stats.
Montreat is currently 3-7 on the season and 1-4 in the AAC. The team has played admirably all season as they continue to find their winning chemistry. The NAIA Region XII Volleyball Tournament begins this Friday, September 14, at Union College; the Lady Cavs seek to hit the floor with anticipation and eagerness to find the momentum needed to face a series of conference teams in the next few weeks.
