Defending Region XII Champions back in full swing at Benedict College Fall Golf Tournament

Head Coach Dave Pennell is hoping his ladies pick up right where they left off after winning last year’s NAIA Region XII Women’s Golf Championship. This past Thursday, Montreat College hit the links again in the Benedict College Fall Golf Match at Oak Hills Golf Club. Mars Hill (379) took the top team honors on the women’s side, edging out the Lady Cavs (384) by a mere five strokes. “For many having never played the course before, I felt they played very well,” said Coach Dave Pennell. Leading the way for the Lady Cavs was sophomore Ashley Mitcham (Waynesville, NC) with a score of 94, good enough for 2nd place honors.

Other Montreat scores were:

Amber Cody  (JR. Marion, NC) 95

Melissa Baker  (SO. Clayton, NC) 96

Amanda Thompson  (SO. Jackson, TN) 99

Aimee Turner  (SO. China Grove, NC) 99

Caitlin Dempsey  (FR. Brantford, Florida) 101

Allie Wall  (FR. Marion, NC) 111

The Lady Cavs are back in action in their early season home meet, the Montreat College Fall Invitational which will be played at Crooked Creek Golf Club in Hendersonville, September 17th and 18th.
