Montreat College Community 5K Kickoff

On behalf of the Montreat College Cross Country team we invite you to the 1st Annual Montreat College Community 5K Kickoff Race this Saturday, September 6, 2008.

There is NO entry fee because the Montreat College Cross Country team wants to bring our running community together and share in God's blessings-the ability to walk and run in His beautiful creation! We also wanted to bring high school students together to make them aware of an amazing collegiate cross country team nearby at a Christ-centered, liberal arts institution.  In each gift bag, runners will receive an informational DVD that shares about Montreat College's mission and services.

Please feel free to share with all your running friends and family about our race and our exceptional cross country course!

Also, if you feel called to find out how you can support a great group of young adults, either prayerfully or financially, please contact Head Coach Jose Larios at 863-528-6294 or at jlarios@montreat.edu...or you can simply drop an encouraging email to us so that we may share it with our team!

This race would not be able to exist without the selflessness of our cross country team.  This race is being put on out of the team's expense!  Without a great team like ours and the willingness to get things organized for this event-we wouldn't be racing on Saturday!

We especially thank our key sponsor-FOOT RX-Asheville....who provided the prizes for our overall and age group results!  Whether you won the FREE PAIR OF RUNNING SHOES, or $20, or $10 gift certificates please be sure to thank Aaron and Scott at FOOT RX for their support of community events like this.  FOOT RX is located at 63 Turtle Creek Drive in Asheville, NC.

We would also like to thank Dwayne Long for volunteering as our Race Announcer.  Finally, we want to thank Don McMahill, Joe Hyder, and Alan Maddox for their continued and tireless work on our Montreat College Cross Country Trails!

We hope to see you on Saturday.  The race beings at 8:30 am at the Black Mountain Campus Cross Country Course.

Please enter through the south BMC gate (near softball field); parking will be limited so make all attempts to car pool.
