As a pitcher for the Cavaliers, Shane established career records for Most Games Pitched (73), Most Innings Pitched (396.1), Most Games Started (52), Most Complete Games (39), Most Wins (34), Most Strike Outs (281) and Lowest Earned Run Average (3.06). Shane was an All-Conference selection in 1994, 1995 and 1996. He also earned All-Region honors in 1995, as well as Montreat College's Most Valuable Player award. Shane graduated with a degree in History Education. He made the Dean's List his final two semesters.
Upon graduation, Shane taught history and coached baseball at A.C. Reynolds high school in Asheville, North Carolina. He has since changed careers and now works for R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company in the Analytical Cheistry Department of Research and Development. Shane has still managed to coach baseball for R.J. Reynolds high school in Winston-Salem and American Legion baseball for Post 290 in King, North Carolina.
In October of 1997, Shane married his college sweetheart, Sabrina Rogers of Kingsport, Tennessee. They have two children, Lane and Emily. They reside in Pfafftown, North Carolina.
