Changing Schedule/Leaving Program
Once a student starts a program, he/she must complete the courses included in the financial aid academic year or it will jeopardize his/her financial aid. If the student withdraws, he/she must complete a course or program withdrawal form and submit it to Student Services and notify the Financial Aid Office.
If the withdrawal results in the student having completed more than 60% of the current half academic year, the student is eligible to keep the financial aid awarded for that half academic period. If the withdrawal results in the student having completed 60% or less of the current half academic year, the Financial Aid Office will complete a federal calculation to determine the amount of aid that must be returned. State aid, including LTG, may all or in part have to be returned to the state depending on the number of hours completed.
If the withdrawal is within the first half of the academic year, all second disbursements will be cancelled. Funds that must be returned will be deducted from the student’s account in Charlotte; therefore, the student will be responsible for repaying any outstanding balance left on that account after funds have been returned. For this reason, we recommend not taking funds off of your account for reasons other than academic purposes. The order in which funds are returned are as follows: Unsubsidized Federal Stafford Loan, Subsidized Stafford Loan, Pell Grant, Other Federal Grants.
Please continue to check your Montreat email address for one month after leaving Montreat. You MUST do an Exit Interview upon leaving the program or graduating. You may do it here.
For grade and billing consequences resulting from withdrawal, please refer to the School of Professional and Adult Studies Bulletin.
