Admission Requirements  

Admission Requirements for Master of Arts in Education (K-6)

  • Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Official transcripts from all regionally accredited institutions attended
  • Cumulative GPA of 2.7 in undergraduate study
  • Minimum score of 1000 on the GRE exam or 34 on the MAT exam
  • Evidence that the applicant holds or is eligible to hold an “A” teaching license in NC
  • Official documentation of one full year of teaching experience
  • Two letters of recommendation from persons qualified to evaluate the applicant’s character, professional expertise, and capacity to complete study at the master’s level
  • A professional goals essay that includes the applicant’s goals for enrolling in the program

Graduation Requirements

  • Completion of 34 credit hours of course work while maintaining a 3.0 GPA
  • Payment of all tuition and fees
  • A grade of B or better on a comprehensive oral exam
  • A grade of B or better on a capstone project completed during EDU560, the last class in the program
  • Completion of degree requirements within 5 years from the start of the program
