Montreat College offers licensure (state certification) programs in Elementary Education. The teacher preparation program leads to a B.S. or a B.A. in Elementary Education and a Class A North Carolina teaching license for those students planning to teach within North Carolina or any other state with whom NC has reciprocity. The program also pledges free and comprehensive assistance to students for their first two years of teaching (and free advice for the duration of your career).
The goals of the teacher education program are to first help incoming students determine if they are, in fact, called to a career as a professional educator and introduce students to a rigorous, Christ-centered, research-based, comprehensive teacher education program designed to prepare them for the exciting challenges faced by today's professional educators.
Based upon the programmatic theme, "The Teacher as Reflective Communicator," our program is designed to produce liberally educated, content knowledgeable, pedagogically sound, and thoroughly articulate teachers who, through reflection, learn to adjust content and method for a given audience, purpose, and context. (The goals and objectives for the Elementary program are included under "Elementary Education" in the Montreat College Catalog.) |
