Outdoor Education
at Montreat College

The Outdoor Education program combines the disciplines of Adventure Education and Environmental Education from a Christian worldview.

The purpose of the Outdoor Education Department is to develop Christ-centered Outdoor Educators equipped with historical and philosophical foundations, technical skills, and teaching/leadership expertise. The Outdoor Education curriculum is designed to give students the skills, knowledge, and training necessary to both facilitate personal growth and interpret the natural environment.

By combining discussion oriented classes with real world experience, students learn to teach in, through and about the outdoors.

  • Students learn how to facilitate educational experiences in an outdoor setting through a biblical worldview
  • Students teach
    • outdoor skills
    • team building
    • leadership development
    • environmental awareness
  • Students design, implement and evaluate programs that are safe, challenging and enjoyable.
