1. Christ-centered. Classes are conducted with frequent reference to the teachings of Jesus Christ. We seek to integrate growth in our Christian faith with the academic pursuits of our classes and projects.

2. Location, location, location. Montreat College is situated within the ecologically diverse Southern  Appalachian Mountains and tucked adjacent to the Pisgah National Forest.

3. High percentage of field courses. Many biology classes involve time in the field and relate these studies to the environment around our campus.Mountain

4. Integration across the curriculum. Many biology courses have components that link with other classes to provide the student with a broad, in-depth understanding of the whole curriculum.

5. Unique benefits: Small science classes provide specific training from faculty while also offering laboratory facilities similar to larger schools.

6. Team approach. Faculty work together with students in pursuing many joint interests in our classes and projects.

7. Encouraging student strengths. The major provides opportunities to work with faculty directly in projects that give the student distinctive experiences and direct links with career interests.
