Job Title:
Director of Financial Aid

Summary:
The director works closely with the Vice President, Director of Admissions, Director of Records and Registration, and the Director of Student Accounts to see that all students at Montreat College in both Traditional and Non-traditional programs are well-served by the Financial Aid Department. The director must know and implement federal, state and institutional policies regarding financial aid and work with staff and students to facilitate the financial aid process, and be current on technology applications for both awarding and communicating with students. The director must also be a team player with an understanding and appreciation for a true enrollment services approach when serving students.

This position reports directly to the Vice President of Marketing & Enrollment Management, and is part of the Enrollment Services Leadership Team.

Duties:
Specific responsibilities will include but are not necessarily limited to the following:

  • Assure that proper counsel and advice to students and their families about financial aid opportunities and requirements.
  • Be aware of financial aid trends and changes to be able to communicate these with other staff members.
  • Conduct Financial Aid Seminars on campus and at area high schools with Admissions staff.
  • Work with the Advancement Office to manage institutional funds and keep Advancement informed of which students receive which donor funds from our scholarship program.
  • Have a working knowledge of PowerFAIDS and use it to its potential, as well as train staff.
  • Oversee the maintenance of integrity of information on database systems and in student files.
  • Mandatory reports, such as NCHEDS, FISAP, Peterson's, IPEDS, U.S. News and World Report, and institutional reports such as Whitehead.
  • Office organization and designation of tasks, working with staff on their duties and priorities as necessary.
  • Being a member of campus committees and task forces at Montreat College to better serve students as a whole.
  • Continually training to improve processes and customer service in the office.
  • Other duties as assigned by the VP of Marketing & Enrollment Management.
