Welcome Back

Welcome back students, faculty, and friends! I hope your holidays have been enjoyable and restful. I know that for many, the break came at much-needed time after the busyness of last semester, but who’s to complain? We kicked off the year to a great start! This past fall, Montreat wrapped up its three-part series, Crossroads: Faith & Culture with special guests Sarah Masen and David Dark; we got to hear incredible stories from WWII veteran Colonel Ben Skardon; and our Outdoor Education students successfully hosted the 21st annual Adventure Education Conference here at our Black Mountain campus!

We celebrated, together, the achievements of both faculty and students: as our CIS team, the Montreat CyberForce, took home a national 10th place at the Cybersecurity Competition; the Montreat Theatre Troupe performed an original piece written by our very own Dr. Jim Shores; and we celebrated with many of our esteemed faculty as they were honored for their dedicated service to higher education.

Like I said, a pretty fantastic start.

This semester, we have more great events to look forward to! This week, we recognize a beloved colleague and professor, Dr. Don King, for his 40 years of academic leadership and service to the school; February kicks off Call to Action Week; and of course, we can’t leave out our quintessential Montreat staples, such as King of Hearts, Pan Day, and the Downhill Derby!

Check out our Events calendar for a full schedule of all the exciting events we have coming up. We can’t wait to see you there!
